When I caught a fish, I made it swim around the Finder and it picked it up. I liked it a lot. I believe this really works best when you are using the typical worm on the hook.
We need to identify depth and possible obstacles. We use it to evaluate swim courses for triathlons. It works well for both.
Other than that its a great product for the price and we would highly recommend it as both as a fish finder and a depth finder. Compact, easy to use and works great. It does exactly what it says it does and is easy to use and understand. Overall we are very pleased with the Hawkeye. Paid the extra for overnight shipping, which didn't work out. At least our shipping cost was refunded although we missed using the fish finder that weekend, we finally got to take it out on a test spin last week. The only thing we would change if we could is to make it possible to save the settings so that you wouldn't have to reset it everytime you turn it off and on.
Unit works well, easy to use, very portable. I like this better than my full size unit.
Bought it as a gift for my dad, who does not have a boat, he loves it
